Over the Moon

Over the Moon is a Big Time Gaming slot that swaps fruit-machine nostalgia for deep space, and you can play the whole thing free right here. The studio behind Megaways built this one on a six-reel grid with 117,649 ways to win, and the theme leans on rockets, meteors and prize symbols instead of lucky sevens. This Over the Moon slot review covers what the demo actually does, what the numbers say, and whether it's worth your time. It's high volatility with a published RTP of 96.55%, and no signup is needed to try it.

What are the Over the Moon theme and mechanics?

Over the Moon is a deep-space slot from Big Time Gaming, and the studio commits to the setting. Symbols include winning icons, wilds, rockets and meteor prize symbols, so the reels carry a mix of standard payers and feature triggers rather than one flat set. What stood out to us is how the features stack on top of each other instead of sitting in isolation. That's the house approach, and it's why their slots feel busier than the average release.

The grid runs six reels and 117,649 ways to win. Matching symbols don't need to land on fixed paylines. Adjacent reels matter more than exact positions, so wins come from left-to-right connections across the reels. The confirmed spec list also notes 649 ways, which reflects how the ways count shifts as the mechanics change during play. New to this style? Our slot RTP and volatility explained guide breaks down how ways-to-win differs from paylines.

Bonus features include free spins, a win exchange option, extra free spins and meteor prizes. The rocket multiplier ties into the theme and can lift payouts when it triggers. We can't confirm the exact release year or the precise reel-row layout from the sources we have, so treat those as not listed rather than guessing. The base game stays active enough to hold attention, and the bonus features are where the bigger swings live.

What are the RTP and volatility of Over the Moon?

The published RTP of Over the Moon is 96.55%, which sits above the 96% mark most players use as a rough benchmark. Higher RTP means less house edge over the long run. It says nothing about any single session, though. You could spin for an hour and see nothing close to that figure. It's an average, not a promise.

Volatility is high, confirmed across the sources we checked, and it shapes everything about how this game feels. Expect longer dry spells between wins, then larger payouts when they land. The max win is 13,570 times your stake. That's a serious ceiling. Work the maths: a £1 spin puts the top prize at £13,570, and a 50p spin puts it at £6,785. Those numbers only arrive on the best runs, and most sessions won't get near them.

If you want steady, small returns, this isn't the slot for you. If you're comfortable with swings and you're playing money you can afford to lose, the upside is real. Set a loss limit before you start. Our responsible gambling tools page covers the practical options.

How does the Over the Moon free demo work?

The Over the Moon demo runs the full game with no real money involved. Same reels, same bonus features, same RTP, just virtual credits. No deposit, no card details, no account required on most sites. That makes it a clean way to test whether the volatility suits you before you commit anything.

Give it at least 20 to 30 spins before you judge it. High-volatility slots can look dead for the first stretch, then wake up. A 10 to 15 minute session is enough to see the base game and hopefully trigger a bonus feature or two. Watch how often the meteor prizes and rocket multiplier appear, because that tells you more about the game's character than any single spin.

One honest pointer: don't chase the max win in the demo. Use the free version to learn the feature triggers, then decide if the real-money version is worth your budget. If you do move to real play, compare sites first. Our best online casinos page lists operators we've checked, and how we rate casinos explains our method. For UK players, the demo needs no licence, but real-money play does. Look for a UKGC-licensed site, GBP deposits and withdrawals, GamStop registration and clear safer-gambling tools. If a site doesn't list its licence, walk away.

Should you play Over the Moon?

Play Over the Moon if you like high-volatility slots with stacked features and you're happy to ride out quiet spells for the chance at a big multiplier. The 96.55% RTP is a genuine plus, and 117,649 ways to win keeps the base game lively. Big Time Gaming fans will recognise the house style straight away, and the space theme gives it a different feel from their fruit-themed releases.

Skip it if you want frequent small wins or you're on a tight budget. High volatility punishes impatience, and the max win of 13,570x won't show up in most sessions. New players should start with the free demo and treat it as a test, not a warm-up for a big spend. Try it for 15 minutes, watch how the features behave, and let that decide it. If the swings feel too sharp, there are plenty of lower-volatility options on our free casino games page.
