Editorial guidelines
Last updated 3 Sept 2026
BestCasinoPortal publishes independent casino and sportsbook information so you can decide where — and whether — to play. This page is the public editorial policy behind every review, ranking and guide. Affiliate commissions fund the work. They do not write it.
Independence from affiliate commissions
Some outbound links to operators are affiliate links. If you sign up through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is how we pay for testing, fact-checking and keeping this site free.
Commission is not an input to a Trust Index score, a ranking formula, or an editorial verdict. No operator can pay to raise a rating, bury a complaint, or come off the blacklist. A clearly labelled featured-partner placement may put a brand first on some listing pages; that placement changes order only and never changes a score. The full commercial rules sit on our affiliate disclosure.
How the Trust Index works
Hand-vetted brands receive a single 0–10 Trust Index built from eight weighted factors: safety and fairness, complaints, payouts, bonuses, games, banking, support and responsible-gambling tools. Auto-published brands carry a provisional capped rating based on licence verification and published offer terms. They do not receive the eight sub-scores or verified payout, RTP or game-count figures.
The weights, the signals we check, and what a featured-partner block can and cannot buy are published on how we rate. If a score on this site disagrees with that method, the method wins — tell editorial and we will correct it.
Sourcing
We prefer primary sources over operator marketing. Licence claims are checked against the regulator’s public register where one exists. Bonus terms, payout windows and game counts are taken from the operator’s own published pages, then labelled as verified only when we have independently confirmed them. Complaint history comes from our resolution centre and from public, attributable records — not anonymous rumours.
Sources we trust include recognised gambling regulators, independent testing labs, official operator filings, and responsible-gambling bodies. We do not publish an RTP percentage, exact game count or exact payout window unless it has been independently verified for that brand.
Corrections policy
If something we published is wrong, we fix the page. Factual errors — a dead licence, a changed wagering requirement, a payout time we can no longer stand behind — are corrected as soon as we can verify the new fact. Material corrections are visible on the page (an updated date, and a short note when the change would change a reader’s decision).
Send evidence to [email protected] or use the contact page. We aim to acknowledge editorial feedback within two business days. Operators cannot buy a quieter correction; players and operators use the same inbox.
YMYL and gambling standards
Casino and betting advice is Your Money or Your Life (YMYL) content: a bad recommendation can cost someone real money. We treat it that way. Named reviewers put their names on scores. A compliance editor fact-checks licence, terms and legal disclosures before a hand-vetted review goes live. We do not invent live odds, jackpot figures, or “guaranteed” outcomes, and we do not dress operator copy up as independent research.
Gambling is entertainment that costs money, not a way to make it. We only recommend operators that offer practical player-protection tools, and we point to free, confidential help on our responsible gambling page. Meet the people who sign the work and read who we are.
18+ only
This site is for adults aged 18 or over (21+ where that is the law). We do not market to anyone under that age. If play has stopped being fun, use the operator’s deposit limits, cooling-off and self-exclusion tools, and the helplines listed on responsible gambling. 18+. Please play responsibly.
