Infectious 5 xWays®

Infectious 5 xWays® slot review

Infectious 5 xWays® is a Nolimit City slot with 5 reels, 1024 ways to win and a published RTP of 96.02%. This review covers the free-play demo rather than real-money play, so you can test the xWays mechanic and the bonus rounds without risking a penny.

Nolimit City built its name on dark, loud, high-risk games, and this one fits that mould. The theme is a grimy East Coast city overrun by something nasty. You'll see toxic hazard signs, masked characters and comic-book art with a mean streak. Nolimit City slots tend to feel busy and fast, and this one is no exception.

What is the Infectious 5 xWays® theme and look?

Infectious 5 xWays® is set in an East Coast city gone wrong, with five characters carrying the story and the Mind Flayer sitting at the centre of the mayhem. If you've played Nolimit City releases before, the look will feel familiar. Bold outlines, dark backgrounds, and symbols that land with real weight. Nothing here is subtle.

Mechanically, the headline is xWays. It's the studio's own mechanic, and it works by splitting symbols to open up more ways to win. The base game starts at 1024 ways, and xWays can push that number higher as symbols land. There's also an Infectious xWays feature, which spreads the mechanic further across the reels. A wild symbol does the usual job of standing in for others.

The 10 Infectious symbols tie into the bonus round. Free spins are where the game opens up, and Nolimit City has built a Mayhem Mode on top of that for players who want the volatility turned up. Bonus buy is available too, though in the demo you're just looking at how it plays, not paying for it. The demo shows the full feature set.

What stood out to us in our own demo sessions is how quickly the xWays mechanic changes the shape of a spin. One moment you're on 1024 ways, the next the reels have expanded and everything looks different.

How do RTP and volatility work in this slot?

Infectious 5 xWays® has a published RTP of 96.02%, which is above the 96% mark plenty of slots sit at. Nolimit City lists this game as high volatility, and that matches how it plays. Expect long quiet stretches, then a feature that moves fast.

High volatility means the big wins cluster in the bonus rounds, not the base game. You'll spin a lot without much back. Then free spins or Mayhem Mode can swing hard the other way. That's the trade-off, and it's worth understanding before you commit real money anywhere.

A quick word on RTP, because it gets misunderstood. It's a long-run average across millions of spins, not a promise for your session. A 96.02% figure doesn't mean you get 96p back from every £1 you stake. It means the game is built to return that share over time, with plenty of variance either way. Our guide to slot RTP and volatility breaks this down properly if you want the detail.

The maximum win isn't listed in the sources we checked, so we won't quote a number. If a site gives you a precise multiplier without showing where it came from, treat it with suspicion. What we can say is that the bonus features are where the upside lives, and the base game is mostly a waiting room.

How do you play the Infectious 5 xWays® free demo?

The Infectious 5 xWays® demo runs in your browser with no signup and no deposit. You get a virtual balance, and the reels behave exactly as they do in the real version. Same RTP, same features, same volatility. The only difference is that nothing you win is worth anything.

Give it 10 to 15 minutes. That's enough to see the base game, trigger a feature or two, and get a feel for the pace. We'd suggest 20 to 30 spins before you judge it. High volatility games look dull over five spins and completely different over fifty.

A few honest pointers from our own demo sessions. Watch the xWays symbols closely, because they're the whole game. Note how often the bonus triggers, since that tells you more about the feel than the paytable does. And don't chase a big win in the demo, because the maths doesn't care how long you've been spinning.

If you want to try other titles afterwards, our free casino games section has plenty of demos with no strings attached. For real-money play, you'd want to compare licensed sites first, and our best online casinos page covers how we judge them.

Should you play Infectious 5 xWays®?

Play Infectious 5 xWays® if you like Nolimit City's house style and you're comfortable with high volatility. The xWays mechanic gives every spin a bit of tension, and the East Coast theme has more personality than most. The 96.02% RTP is a fair number, and the demo costs you nothing to test.

Skip it if you want steady, gentle sessions. This game will test your patience. Anyone on a tight budget should stay well clear of the real-money version, because the swings are real.

For UK players, the game has been seen under a UKGC licence, which means the operator running it must be regulated here. That brings GBP deposits and withdrawals, plus tools like GAMSTOP and deposit limits. Details vary by casino, so check before you sign up. Our responsible gambling tools page lists what to look for.

In 2026, there's no shortage of slots to choose from. This one earns its place if you know what you're getting into. Try the demo first, then decide.
