Extra Chilli

Extra Chilli is a Big Time Gaming Megaways slot with a 96.63% published RTP, and you can play the free demo right here without risking a penny. The Australian studio built the Megaways engine and then licensed it across the industry, so this one's a home-game for them. It's loud, it's fast, and it's aimed at players who don't mind a bit of heat. We tested the demo, so no real money changed hands.

Extra Chilli theme, look and mechanics

The theme is a chilli-eating contest, and the whole thing leans on spice as a stand-in for risk. Symbols land against a hot pepper backdrop. Big Time Gaming has a signature style, and this game wears it proudly. Their titles tend to move quickly and reward patience with sudden swings.

Mechanically, Extra Chilli runs on Megaways. Reel heights change on every spin, so the number of winning combinations shifts constantly. You get six reels, and the top count is 117,649 ways to win. Combinations pay left to right, which is standard for the format. The reels don't sit still. That's the point. No two spins look alike.

What stood out to us is how well the mechanic feeds the theme. A chilli-eating contest is about escalating heat, and Megaways slots escalate fast when a good run lands. Play the demo and watch how the reels behave. Ten minutes of spinning will teach you more than any description can.

RTP, volatility and what to expect

The published RTP is 96.63%, which sits above the 96% mark plenty of players use as a rough benchmark. RTP describes theoretical return over millions of spins, not what you'll see in one session. Don't read it as a promise.

Volatility is where this game gets serious. Extra Chilli is very high volatility. Long dry spells are normal, and the big wins cluster into rare moments instead of trickling in. Want frequent small returns? This isn't your slot. Can you handle a bumpy ride? The payoff structure rewards that patience.

The maximum win is 20,000x your stake. That's the headline number, and it's why streamers and high rollers keep coming back. On a small stake it's still a meaningful multiplier, though hitting it is rare by design. Playing the Extra Chilli free demo

The demo needs no signup and no deposit. Load it, get a virtual balance, spin. Nothing you win or lose is real. That makes it the cheapest way to learn a very high volatility game before you commit a penny.

Give it a proper run. Ten to fifteen minutes is a fair window. Play at least 20 to 30 spins before you judge it, because a short burst can mislead you either way. High volatility slots often look dead for a stretch, then flip.

Watch for the free spins feature while you play. Most of the drama in a game like this lives in the bonus round, and the base game is really just the runway. Our free casino games section has plenty more demos if you want to compare engines side by side. When you move to real money, stick to licensed sites with GBP deposits and withdrawals, and check that tools like deposit limits and self-exclusion are available. Should you play Extra Chilli?

Play it if you like Megaways slots and you've got the stomach for very high volatility. The 96.63% RTP is solid, the 117,649 ways to win keep every spin interesting, and the 20,000x max win gives you something to chase. Big Time Gaming knows this format better than anyone, and it shows in how the game flows.

Skip it if you want steady, predictable returns. This slot will test your patience. Players chasing small regular wins will find the dry spells frustrating. That's not a flaw, it's the design.

One thing worth flagging: the demo is free, but real play is 18+ and needs a licensed operator. In 2026 there's no shortage of places to play. Pick one that takes player protection seriously.

Our verdict: a strong, demanding slot that rewards the right kind of player. Try the demo first, learn its rhythm, then decide. For how we weigh games like this, see how we rate games and casinos.

18+ only. Play responsibly. Demo play uses no real money.
